Are you giving time to candidates to think about your Job offer?

When you extend a Job offer to candidates, it is purely the candidates’ discretion on how they evaluate it and accept it.

Sounds fair, right?

But are we giving enough time for the candidate to evaluate an offer before accepting it.

Some companies do. They give a 7 to 10 days for the candidate to evaluate and accept.

Only some companies do that. Most of them don’t.

Since most of the positions are immediate needs, we expect instant acceptance from the candidate. We aren’t giving them enough time and details to evaluate. Technically the candidates just check the CTC component part in the offer letter and send their acceptance.

This sets the mindset for many job seekers. They restrict their job offer evaluation only to the CTC component and judge between offers.

What if we give them enough time and details to evaluate the job offer we extend?

How about
- we set out a clear career growth path
- we explain the technical knowledge the candidate would gain working for us
- we explain the financial growth they can expect working here
- we setup a casual meeting with the team he/she is going to work for and set the tone of the culture.

And how about we ensure all of the above happen before we expect the candidate’s offer acceptance.

When we expect instant acceptance, instant exit option is very much available for the other party too.
